Getting rid of 'Spider Veins'
Sclerotherapy is a procedure
used to treat unwanted small leg veins. A
salt solution is injected into these blood vessels, which causes them
to shrink and eventually disappear. Sclerotherapy is most frequently
used
to treat what is known as "spider veins" on the legs.
For small veins (telangiectasia) on the face, we prefer removal by a fine electrical current with a very low intensity. This technique is also used for extremely small leg veins.
Method
Injecting the unwanted veins with a sclerosing solution (saline/salt) causes the target veins to become irritated and then to disapear over a period of weeks, as the body naturally absorbs the treated vessel. We prefer sclerotherapy ove for eliminating spider veins on the legs. For small veins (telangiectasia) on the face, we prefer removal by a fine electrical current with a very low intensity.
